Pixel pitch is one of the first specs you'll see on any LED panel, usually written as a number in millimeters, like 2.6mm. It's a simple measurement, but it has a real effect on how an LED screen looks in person.

The basic definition

Pixel pitch is the distance, measured center-to-center, between one LED pixel and the next one on the panel. A smaller number means the pixels are packed closer together, which produces a denser, more detailed image. A larger number means more space between pixels, which is fine at a distance but can look coarse up close.

Why it affects viewing distance

The tighter the pixel pitch, the closer an audience can stand before individual pixels become visible as distinct dots rather than blending into a smooth image. That's why finer pixel pitches are typically chosen for environments where the audience gets close—retail displays, lobby installations, corporate stages—while coarser pitches are common for large stadium screens viewed from far away.
